About SCUREF

The South Carolina Universities Research and Education Foundation (SCUREF) was incorporated in 1988 by the four major research institutions in South Carolina: the Medical University of South Carolina, Clemson University, South Carolina State University, and the University of South Carolina.

SCUREF’s mission is to enhance the education and research programs in energy, national security, environmental management, and in health-related areas for its member institutions and for universities throughout the United States.

SCUREF supports its sponsors, which include Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, Savannah River Remediation, and the U.S. Departments of Energy, Defense, and Homeland Security in the development of university-based research and education programs in science and engineering.

SCUREF programs are designed to assist the Savannah River Site and other similar national facilities throughout the United States develop a sustainable workforce in these critical skill areas.
